The UK’s first purpose-built science discovery centre is a unique experience for pupils.
First set up in an old gas showroom back in 1985 by Cardiff University, today’s Techniquest is fantastic learning resource that brings pupils from Foundation level right up to Post-16 an amazing way to learn about science, technology, engineering and mathematics. From interactive shows to laboratory workshops, it gives pupils hands-on practical experience and the teacher support is fantastic too.

Cardiff Bay Wetland Reserve
Cardiff Bay’s fantastic wetland reserve has a year-round education programme for schools.
With activity packages for up to 60 children, all curriculum-linked and risk-assessed, the reserve’s activities include pond-dipping, bird identification and environmental boat trips, which introduce children to the fascinating wildlife and ecology of the bay. There’s an optional indoor afternoon session if the weather’s not so great and, if you’d like to cover a specific topic, reserve staff can oblige.

National Museum Cardiff
Take your pupils on a 4,600 million-year evolutionary journey from the beginning of time!
This museum, in the heart of Cardiff’s elegant civic centre, houses Wales’ national art, geology and natural history collections, so needless to say you’ll come face to face with a dinosaur or two!
You can explore with self-led resources or take part in museum-led activities. The Clore Discovery Centre caters for schools with activities, talks, performances, demonstrations and exhibitions.
