Clifton Suspension Bridge
Spanning the picturesque Avon Gorge, this Grade I listed landmark joins Bristol to Somerset.
For almost 150 years, this amazing feat of engineering has attracted visitors from all over the world. The symbol of the city of Bristol, its design was inspired by the ideas of Isambard Kingdom Brunel.
The bridge’s visitor centre welcomes school groups from Year 1 right through to Year 12 and you can pre-book a 45-minute to 1-hour guided tour for your class, led by a knowledgeable ‘explainer’.

The Dockyard Museum has lots to see, hear, touch and even smell! Learn about SS Great Britain’s remarkable story, from luxury liner to coal-carrier and her rescue from the bottom of the South Atlantic.
‘Brunel Badge’ cross-curricular workshops for learners at all levels, including SEN, give children opportunities to develop their information processing, reasoning, enquiry and creative thinking skills.

This fab museum in a dockside transit shed tells Bristol’s story through the centuries.
With 3,000 artefacts on display – from the fun to the deadly serious – M Shed has everything from Aardman’s Wallace and Gromit models to working cranes.
The museum’s schools provision is excellent, with immersive sessions spanning everything from wildlife to the war years. So whether you’re studying art, transport, dinosaurs, the slave trade or pop culture, M Shed’s the place for a school trip.
