Swansea
Plantasia
Swansea’s unique tropical paradise of exotic plants and animals in a big glass pyramid.
Right in the middle of Swansea, this giant greenhouse contains over 5,000 plants, including bananas, coconuts and giant bamboo. Amidst the greenery there are creatures to see too – from piranhas to spiders and monkeys to turtles.
You can learn how tribal rainforest people live in harmony with nature in Plantasia’s replica rainforest hut, built using the same design and materials used by forest tribes.

The Egypt Centre
Tucked away on Swansea University’s campus, the Egypt Centre cares for over 5000 artefacts.
The two galleries in the Egypt Centre are enigmatically named ‘The House of Life’ and ‘The House of Death’. One contains everyday objects like Egyptian tools, weapons, toys and jewellery, while the other is where you’ll find all the creepy coffins with their mesmerising mummies.
Fun things to do include pyramid puzzles, writing in hieroglyphs and you can even have a go at mummifying a dummy mummy!

Gower Heritage Centre
A rural-life museum in an area of outstanding natural beauty just 8 miles west of Swansea.
The Gower Heritage Centre has a fully operational 12th century watermill with experienced craftspeople working on-site giving demonstrations. You’ll be able to pop in to see the blacksmith, watch the glassblower at work and learn all about the local history of farming.
The centre is open all year and has walks, workshops and activities including puppet-making, pottery and woollen-mill crafts.
