The Wilson

The Wilson
Cheltenham’s recently extended Art Gallery & Museum reopened its doors to the public in 2013.

With a new building housing expansive fine art and touring exhibition galleries, The Wilson now includes a space dedicated to the town’s internationally renowned Arts & Crafts collection.

Named after Edward Wilson, a Cheltenham explorer who travelled to the Antarctic with Captain Scott, the museum also houses an open archive of local stories, alongside temporary exhibitions and fun shows for families.

The Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway

The Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway
A wonderful way to see the picturesque hamlets and villages of the Cotswold countryside.

The Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway was opened in 1981 by steam enthusiasts who restored the long-closed railway line, from Stratford Racecourse to Cheltenham Racecourse, to its former glory.

Travel one way on a heritage steam train, then back again in a rail car pulled by a classic 1960s diesel loco. And when you run out of steam? It’s time for a visit to the Flag and Whistle Café, of course!

Sandford Parks Lido

Sandford Parks Lido
One of the largest outdoor swimming pools in the UK, this historic lido dates back to 1935.

Sandford Parks Lido has a 50-metre main pool, a children’s pool and a paddling pool – all heated, and set in beautiful landscaped gardens. It’s open to the public from May to September and the all-day entry rates are fantastic value!

The Lido also has a fabulous cafe and a regular programme of events including theatre, cinema and sports too. Take a look on the website to see what’s been scheduled.
